deviantART

Since we're all doing our case studies I thought I would put up one of my personal favorite websites/blogs. It's called deviantART and it's a online community of artist who upload their work to the deviantART database. They have everything from photography to painting to flash animation to you name it. It's also the best place on the web to find really unique wallpapers for your computer. I found this one yesterday and it's my new wallpaper:

Great site, everyone should check it out.

Happy Birthday Ray

It’s been over a year since one of the most influential men in the history of American music left this world. Ray Charles was born Ray Charles Robinson on September 23, 1930 in Albany, Georgia. He began to loose his sight around age five and was left completely in the dark by age seven. His name was shortened to Ray Charles after entering show business to avoid confusion with the famous boxer Sugar Ray Robinson.
Ray Charles was a revolutionary American pianist and soul singer who helped shape the sound of rhythm and blues and brought a soulful sound to everything from country music to pop standards to a now-iconic rendition of "America the Beautiful."
Ray Charles died on June 10th, 2004.

As a guitar player, my musical roots are grounded firmly in the blues. I would sit alone in my room, picking out the songs of the greats, all the while experiencing the pain and anguish of blues masters hailing from years past in a way that no other kid my age could have. I felt emotions that can only be shared through music, and not just felt them but harbored them deep in my soul. Even now, supposedly cool, calm and collected I still can't listen to "You Don't Know Me" or "Drown in my own Tears" without tearing up.

They call him the "genius" and they call him the "father of soul." As for me I don't know what to call him, and if I could meet him today I wouldn't know what to say except, "Thank you."

Fighting the Power

I was getting my daily dose of webcomic when I stumbled across the store of one of my favorite webcomics, CTRL-ALT-DEL. In the store I found this T-Shirt:

Now, I don't know if this is P.C. and to be honest I don't really care. I laughed so hard I almost died. Seriously. As you'll note in one of my earlier posts I stated that one of the things I can do is Stick it To "the Man". After seeing it, I had to buy. Too long have Mac people people been discriminated against by the Microsoft devils! It's time to stand up and be heard! Rebel! Join the Mac Panthers! Fight the power!

Impossibly Small, Amazingly Awesome

On Wednesday apple once again rocked my world. How you ask?

iPod Nano

I went to CompUSA as soon as I heard it was out to see if I could put my hands on one, but to my dismay they didn't have any. Not only did they not have any, they didn't even know when they were going to get any in. (Tear)

Say goodbye iPod mini! The nano has a color screen, fully functional click wheel and comes in a 2GB and a 4GB. They even have a $20 student discount.

It comes in Classic white and a new Black that is my personal favorite.

They also have a bunch of cool accesories like these headphones and lanard all in one

And an armband that could make your new nano double as a watch along with some cool covers to protect your tiny , tune-generating toy

At $179 for the 2GB and $229 for the 4GB (with the student discount) its hard to resist.

iPod Nano: just one more reason to go Apple.

1337 h4x (Posting Pictures)

Okay, for those of you who wanted to know how to post a picture on your blogs I found a great website that lays it all out simply. Click here to learn all about the HTML code for images!

Blogger also has it's own way to add pictures for those of you who would rather not deal with source code. When you're creating a post look above the main body and below the link and the title. There you'll see a spell check icon and to the right of that icon a small picture. Click on the picture and it will walk you through adding a picture to your site.

As always, please feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Hope this helps!

And now that I've talked all about pictures, here's one that I found very amusing:
